This week Martina and I had the joy of participating in and assisting with the Pathways to Power Training in New Bern. For those who don’t know, Pathways to Power is an intensive, two-day training that helps local activists become true democracy advocates and leaders within their community.
Omisade, Democracy NC’s fabulous training director, did a phenomenal job of keeping the participants engaged through creative group activities, breathing exercises, and an activity called “conocimiento” where each of us shared our personal stories and identities. I learned from Omisade that training is not all about content, but about making the training an enjoyable experience.
Spending the entire weekend in New Bern with Jake and Omisade was a great experience, as we all bonded and got to know each other a lot better and became a stronger team. We feel very lucky to be working with such inspiring and talented staff.
